Ode To Pigeon Forge
Ode to Pigeon Forge
Where’s my city
Where vacationers flock
It’s deserted streets
And parking lots
My tourist Mecca
Of busy theme parks
Putt Putt golf
And noisy go carts
Where is that traffic
We used to cuss
Rant and rave
And put up a fuss
Now I walk her streets
Her deserted malls
No traffic jams
No cars at all
Who knew we’d long
For the good old days
Of taking the backroads
To avoid delays
It was bumper to bumper
The Spring “rod runs”
A sure fire signal
That the season’s begun
Behind Ma and Paw
Driving real slow
A complete dead stop
In the middle of the road
No signal flashing
But please don’t complain
They’re just turning left
From the far right lane
Guess they “Done seen”
One of “‘Dem tourist traps”
“Look! LIVE BEARS!”
And all that “Souvenir crap”
Who’d have thought
We’d miss all that commotion
Before restaurants were closed
And the bars were still open
No orders to self-isolate
No need to quarantine
No N95 masks
No COVID19
It’s creepy ... it’s eerie
Just walking around
But for now I’ll keep haunting
My Tennessee Ghost Town
