Everybody’s busy.. making those plans

All of that stuff …that they’re gonna do

Everyone’s wishing .. and wanting their dreams 

Quickly fulfilled .. to suddenly come true

church sign is preaching..you’d better prepare

For the day of your reckoning..surely awaits

there’s no way to complete..or to finish it all

Before standing outside..those pearly gates

Hurry! Hurry! …then hurry some more 

Do it real fast… get on with that task 

No time is left …no time to slow down 

On to the next …. ‘cause you finished the last

The whiz and the whir… constantly worried

Modern life is a blur … on hyper speed 

Gone are the days … when a trot was the tempo

And life wasn’t always .. a constant stampede

Carpe diem… chant the Marines 

You charge into battle.. with bayonet drawn

Taking no prisoners…reaping the spoils

The day must be seized..by brute force or brawn

How do you slow down…step on those brakes

Pause for the moment …call off the hounds

Freeze all the stars.. right where they shine

Mute that drum beat..that incessantly pounds 

love needs a stillness..to flourish and blossom 

A place where the pulse … of passion can grow

Where seconds turn into… minutes and hours

And time is immortal… and fast becomes slow

intimate moments … are like coins in a fountain

Each one a wish…that waits to come true

Toss in your coin.. and hope that love finds you

Pray for the kiss… that passion ensues

Tenderness slowly… develops in time

When two hearts devoted….embraced by a vow

Learn that the world… spins on without them

And passion’s pleasure…on bended knee bows

love can’t be found… in the hustle and bustle   

It lives for the moment … carved out somehow

between every heartbeat…becomes an eternity
