Mere ink on a page 

An attempt at cajolery

Meant to flatter

And perhaps persuade 

With sweet words of poetry

To convey the emotions 

Stirred by all of your charms

Words to inform 

That it won’t be long

Of phrases simple

No lofty rhymes or quotes 

With the only hope

That it connotes

The feelings that 

Your love evokes 

That while apart

You will be smote
