Melancholy Mothers Day
Melancholy Mothers Day
Here we are again
But this time around
There’s no sweet Carol
Though her sprit still surrounds
Your son is stopping by
So you can prepare him brunch
He may even bring you a cake
At least that is your hunch
Your daughter is too far away
With obligations of her own
But she wishes you the very best
And she’ll call you on the phone
For these blessings you are grateful
It’s hard to ask for more
But one last time just to see your Mom
Come walking through your door
With her white glove on when she arrives
Just like a royal queen
To make sure your abode is spotless
And completely squeaky clean
For you’re a wonderful Mother
And your Mom would surely say
How proud she is as she smiles down
On this Melancholy Mothers Day
