Days of our desires

From the very moment we are born 

Our time on earth is numbered

In days and weeks and months and years

A finite amount given

Just so many smiles and laughters

Just so many tears

No one knows when it will end

When our allotted time runs out

We work we play we eat we sleep

It seems an endless cycle

Until one day we realize

The reaper soon will reap

Only then do we consider

How priceless is each day

To want to need to love to hold 

Closer than the closest close

For only love is left behind 

When our final story’s told

So stay with me … be my lover 

as dusk descends upon our days

No words no sounds no strings no bounds

Only love’s slow burning fire 

Even time politely stops

And only love surrounds

An inevitability

That one day there’ll be just one

To wake to cry to grieve to tire

To walk this earth alone
